Many of the users root the Samsung Galaxy S I9000 smartphone just because they don’t want to stuck with the functionality given by the manufacturer. Even though the rooting gives many advantages it still have some disadvantages. One among that is warranty. After rooting your device the warranty given by the manufacturer will void. Due to that you cannot give your mobile to the service center in case if it is repaired.

But don’t worry you can get back your warranty by unrooting the device. Here is the simple tutorial to unroot. Just read below:

Pre requisites:

• It is always advisable to be on a safer side before we try anything newly on the device. So, we highly recommend you to take backup of all your personal stuffs available in the mobile. Because, there is a chance of your datas getting wiped off. If it happened, you can recover everything incase you took a backup of all your datas.
• Next we recommend you to charge your device battery fully. Atleast your smartphone should have 80% battery level.
• Make sure your phone is factory unlocked and not locked to a particular center.
• Then enable the USB debugging mode on the phone to connect the android device with the computer and use the Android SDK with it.
• Next install the USB Driver for Samsung Galaxy S to transfer the files between the smartphone and the computer.
• To unroot the device it is essential to flash the official firmware which should works only on the Samsung Galaxy S I9000 smartphone. So, make sure about your device model number. Incorrect variant may brick your device. You can check your model number of the Galaxy device by following the path Settings>> About Phone>> Model number.
• Last but not least before start to follow this procedure make sure your device is rooted. Incase, you are not sure about the device is rooted or not. Read this article and know about that from there.

So, let’s start with the procedure to unroot the device.

Instructions to Unroot Samsung Galaxy S I9000 smartphone:

1. First download the appropriate official firmware from here (according to the region) to  your computer.

2. So, once you downloaded extract the firmware zip to get a .tar.md5 file along with few other files.

3. Next download the Odin3 v1.85 which will help to install the official firmware. Extract the Odin zip too.

4. So, once you downloaded everything switch OFF your device.

5. After that boot your device into the download mode by pressing and holding the Volume down+Home+Power buttons simultaneously. Then press the Volume UP button so that you can enter into the download mode.

6. So, once you entered into the download mode you need to run Odin by double clicking the Odin executable file.

7. After that connect your phone and the computer with the help of USB cable. You must do this only your device is in the download mode.

8.  Wait upto the Odin recognizes your phone. Once it recognized successfully an “added” message will appear under the Odin. You can identified that by the yellow color in the ID:COM section.

NOTE: Incase, the ID:COM section does not turn yellow try again the above mentioned point with the help of another USB Cable, or try the one located at the back side of the computer. If the Odin still recognize to fail your phone then reinstall the USB driver.

9. So, once your Odin recognized your device, select the files extracted from the firmware zip folder to install on the phone.

a) Click the PDA Button and select the file with .tar.md5 extension
b) Click the Phone button and select file with Modem in its name
c) Click the CSC button and select file with CSC in its name
d) Click the PIT button and select the .pit file

NOTE : Skip the last three steps (b,c and d) if such files are not found.

10. Next verify the “Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time” check boxes are enabled/selected in Odin. Make sure the Re-partition option is not selected. You must select the option only when a .pit file is being used.

11. After that click the “Start” button in Odin. The installation will begin within a few minutes to complete.

12. Once the installation process is completed, the phone will restart automatically.

13. When the home screen appears on the phone, unplug the USB cable from the device to disconnect it from the computer.

That’s it. Now, your Samsung Galaxy S device is successfully unrooted. If you want to check go to the Settings>About Phone option and verify the software version of the device.
